Is your C64 suffering? The most common C64 dead issue by a long mile is a faulty PLA

Designed with properly machined pins - not cheap stuff, and A-Grade genuine Lattice Semiconductor components

As with all of my stuff - The PLA will get a final test before shipment.

100% Compatible, and extensively tested (Zaxxon, Super Zaxxon, Epyx Fastload, etc)

Commodore 64 PLA replacement - 100% Compatible GAL solution 906114-01.

Works on Assy 326298, 250407, 250425, 250466 and 251103, 251104 (SX64) - Does not work on the short board assy 250469 as that uses a different type of chip altogether (easy to recognize, has a LOT more pins).

Background:

The Programmable Logic Array (PLA) is a hardware programmable chip in the C64 that only contains combinatorial logic.

Designed by Dave DiOrio, the PLA is used to create chip-select signals received from various other signals. These signals control which chip is to be connected to the data bus. Therefore the PLA is responsible for dictating the memory map of the C64 and enables the implementation of bank switching. Commodore engineer James Redfield said it was the "glue logic to tie everything together". The final version of the PLA logic was REV3.

The original PLA chip is VERY failure-prone, especially the earliest models - I am offering a worthy replacement to bring your dead C64 back to life!
